We stayed at Nanya hotel in Chiang mai’s Old town, which offers excellent value for money.
🏨 Overview of Nanya hotel
- Location: Conveniently located in the heart of Chiang mai Old town, within walking distance to major attractions such as Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, and Tha Phae Gate.
- Facilities:
- Air-conditioned rooms
- Outdoor pool
- Free Wi-Fi
- Family-friendly rooms
- Daily housekeeping service
- Price: The average Off-season price is around 500 THB per night ($15), making it a budget-friendly choice. Peak season price is 1,200 THB per night ($36).
- No Breakfast: Breakfast is not provided, so you’ll need to visit a nearby café or local restaurant. However, cookies and tea were always available in the lobby.
- Small Pool: The pool is on the smaller side but is clean and suitable for relaxation. And the pool was still usable, though the water quality wasn’t the best.
It was initially a room with two single beds, but was later converted into a double bed.
No windows that can be opened and the very small fridge doesn’t have a freezer.
The frosted glass seen in the photo below is the window.
The ventilation fan is loud.
So if you're sensitive to noise, it might be a good idea to bring earplugs.
I didn’t turn on the TV, but it’s likely that the programs would be dubbed in Thai. That’s what happened in other hotels.
We decided to stay a few more days in Chiang Mai and booked a place in Old Town before heading to Bangkok.
We had spent more than we expected, so I looked for an affordable hotel with a swimming pool.
Although there were some negative reviews, I booked Nanya Hotel considering the price, which was under 1,200 THB per night ($36) during peak season.
I noticed that during the off-season, you can even stay for 500 THB per night ($15).
There weren’t many families with kids, and most of the guests were couples (either older couples or young couples) or solo travelers.
The best part was that it was located in Old Town, making it easy to explore on foot.
Chiang Mai in January was really too cold for swimming.
I hired a swimming instructor and took lessons, but it was really chilly.
Still, my sons worked hard and even reached a point where I could dive and float in the water!
A 30-minute swim, and my son was done...
At Nanya Hotel's pool, smoking is allowed.
For someone like me, traveling with kids, it was a downside, but for others, it could be a plus.
In the lobby, there’s coffee, tea, and crackers available for you to enjoy at any time.
There’s no breakfast provided, but there’s a brunch place right next door.
It’s a bit on the expensive side, though...
I’ll post this separately.
Since I have two kids, I just pushed the single beds together, but when the cleaning staff came, they transformed it into a double bed for us!
I was really touched...
The location is fantastic, so we could walk around Old City and explore various places.
Just a short walk away, there’s an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu place, and right in front of the hotel, there’s a ramen shop that’s popular and usually has a line.
I was satisfied with my stay due to the price and location, but depending on what’s important to you, You may or may not be satisfied.
